Again, Delta State Governor-elect, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has promised that under his watch, the state will experience prosperity like never before.

In a “Thank You” message to the people of the state who voted overwhelmingly in the April 11 governorship election, Okowa said, “I want to thank every Deltan who voted, whether you voted for me or not. Thank you for taking the time to exercise your civic duty: and for making your voice heard. If there is one thing we can all take away from this election, it is that Delta State can never be the same again. It has changed for good – and forever. You have my word on that. And I make
bold to say, the best is yet to come.

“Because on Saturday April 11 you voted for rationality in progress not for sentiments; you voted for unity not for sectionalism, and you voted for love, not for hatred. In all of these expressions and demonstration, you affirmed your belief in a united Delta State devoid of any ethnic colouration. This election has sounded it loud and clear that Deltans are determined to move forward for development and in the spirit of brotherhood, hope, cooperation, peace and security.”

Okowa said, Deltans through their votes have once again reminded Nigeria and Nigerians that while tribe and tongue may differ, “our strength lies in our diversity, that our wealth lies in the bonds that hold us together as a people, and we rise or fall together as a family. Indeed, our cultural diversity presents unique opportunities for better understanding, greater collaboration, and more efficient resource mobilisation.”

He said that despite cultural differences and aspirations, the people want a state that is working and provides the enabling environment for businesses to flourish and the people to prosper.

“We want our youths to be more useful by putting them to work. We want our children to have access to the best schools where they learn to be responsible and productive citizens. We want our children and the aged to have access to the best healthcare available. We want to be able to grow our own food and have enough to sell to those who need them,” he added
